We are excited to share with you some information about massage treatments, our services and the benefits of a healthier, energetic lifestyle. More and more people are turning to massage treatment to provide relaxation and relieve tension associated with the daily stresses of their busy lives. We believe everyone deserves a great massage. We know finding time to take care of yourself isn’t a priority though we know it should be!
Relaxation Massage Relaxation massage is the style that comes to mind when most people think about massage and is the most common, best-known form of bodywork performed today. The aim is relaxing the entire body and this is accomplished by massaging the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Additional techniques include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending and stretching. Oil or balms are used to reduce friction and stimulate the skin. Sport Massage Sport (deep tissue) massage is used to ease knots and release chronic muscle tension. Other benefits include reducing inflammation and helping to eliminate scar tissue. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). Sport deep tissue massage uses strokes across the grain of the muscles, not with the grain as in Relaxation massage. More intense movements and techniques such as deep finger pressure may be utilised. Trigger Point Therapy A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache. Trigger points are caused by muscle overuse or injury, and because the aches are associated with moving parts, the pain is commonly mistaken for arthritis. The result of trigger point therapy is the elimination of toxins in the muscles and the release of energising endorphins. A significant decrease in pain is often found after just one treatment. Myofascial Release Therapy Myofascial Release is a therapeutic treatment utilising a gentle form of stretching that unwinds the connective tissue of the body. It produces a profound healing effect upon the body tissues, eliminating pain, restoring motion and releasing emotional patterns of stress. Myofascial Release is an exceptional treatment therapy for structurally realigning the body and can treat many conditions that other therapies find difficult to achieve. Craniosacral Therapy Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, noninvasive form of manual therapy that deals with the movement of the Cerebral spinal fluid surrounding the skull and spine. Craniosacral therapists ease the restrictions on nerve passages by focusing on the membranes and tissue that encase the central nervous system and spinal cord. Craniosacral therapy seeks to restore misaligned cranial bones to their proper position. It is thought to eliminate the negative effects of birth trauma, as well as provide relief from migraine headaches, neck and back pain, temporomandibular joint disorder and more. Pre/Postnatal Massage Massage during pregnancy has many positive benefits for both you and your baby. Massage provides emotional relief and physical improvement for muscular pain sometimes experienced through pregnancy such as back ache, shoulder and neck stiffness, fatigue and swelling in the feet and ankles. Thai Massage Thai massage is an interactive manipulation of the body using active stretching and gentle pressure with the hands and feet. These movements help the body to regain range of movement, increase flexibility relieve muscular and joint tension, stimulate internal organs, and balance the body’s energy system. The effects are both relaxing and energising. Positional Release Therapy Positional Release Therapy is a powerful technique used by therapists to precisely resolve difficult causes of soft tissue injury and musculoskeletal dysfunctions with minimal discomfort to the client. PRT is an indirect method that places the body in a therapeutic position of comfort and monitors tender points to identify injury and monitor corrections. PRT is one of the few techniques used on acute injuries as well as short term and chronic conditions.
